29. Zacchaeus

When Jesus came to Jericho
Long long ago,
They gathered round to see him
Go passing through.
A mean little tax-man
Climbed up a tree
Along the road where Jesus came
So he could see.
But Jesus knew the man was there
Hiding in the tree,
And said, “Zacchaeus, come on down –
Come home for tea.”
He saw that Jesus was a friend,
Gave to the poor,
And paid back four times what he took,
And took no more.
